Building a movement
This project is bigger than me. In fact, it’s the biggest thing I’ve ever taken on or been a part of. I truly believe in the power it could have and what we could achieve, together. Author Boyd Varty introduced me to the concept of a collective awakening. In his example he discusses African Killer Bees. Every bee has an innate knowledge of what that individual is inherently capable of and in turn does what it is designed by nature to do. By doing this, the entire hive, thousands of bees, is able to move in a coordinated direction for the greater good of the hive. What if we were to do the same? Unleash the inherent powers each of us is born with? Where would that lead our hive? What could we accomplish as a collective? What kind of societal transformation would take place? I don’t know but it’s my goal to find out. To light the spark that starts a wild fire. I encourage anyone reading this to look deep within you and ask the tough questions? What makes me feel alive? What does it look like to live in authenticity? What am I passionate about and how can I live with that as my purpose?

However, I want to go beyond just you and me. I’m looking to affect the collective. To start or join a movement. "Change the algorithm," as Varty calls it. My ask of you is to help us. Help us spread the word. Help us make our project a reality. Whether you’re in a position to donate financially or simply share our vision with others, any contribution is greatly appreciated. We are currently seeking sponsorship partners in a variety of areas. If you or someone you may know may be interested in becoming a potential backer please contact us.

What your support can help us achieve
Film crew - To execute this project in a manner befitting of what it deserves I am operating with the assumption of bringing along film makers of various capacities. The underlying characteristic of each is their deep skill and passion for creativity as well as a desire to make quality video. These individuals have families and responsibilities outside of this project and I would like to compensate them for their time.
Support Vehicle - Although I can ride my bike unsupported, a support vehicle allows me to transport camera supplies as well as a film crew for the duration of the project. This enables us to produce a better quality video series and attract a larger audience.

Awareness and advertisement - One of the key aspects of having a support vehicle is the ability to transform it into a moving billboard and spread our message throughout the bike ride. The slow speed of the bike accompanied with the elongated shooting schedule allow us to bring our message to people in localized fashion over the course of 2,500+ miles. Coupled with the driving route, which takes us through major west coast cites such as Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego while traveling through states with a combined population of 51.6 million people. We estimate our reach will draw the attention of a multitude of people. Imagine the awareness we can raise as well as your company's name being not only associated with, but responsible for creating a positive impact in the battle with mental health.

Other items and in kind donations - Our priority in seeking sponsorship and donations is to obtain the aforementioned items. However, being that our goal is to create the best possible project we can other items are also of concern. Any funding made available after the priority items are accounted for will go towards production costs and equipment. Most of our equipment and supplies (be it camera and video, biking, sleeping or traveling) are currently being accounted for out of pocket. Therefore, some may not be the best tools for the job but simply the best available present time. If any of these were to come from outside sources we would be greatly appreciative.
Project overview A Multi-faceted project
-
In making the mini-series we have laid out roughly 25-30 specific stops where we will shoot planned "adventure activities." Each episode will be roughly 30-45 minutes of content featuring both the bike riding component along some of the most scenic roads in the country, as well as in depth features of the specific activities.
-
We plan to be on the road two and a half months. During that time we plan to do daily vlog updates and video dumps through this site as well as an associate youtube channel.
-
Once the ride is completed we will use footage from the mini-series as well as additional unreleased footage (behind the scenes, interviews, campfire conversations etc.) to produce a roughly 1.5 hour documentary focusing on benefits of following passion and living authentically.
What that gives us is roughly 75 days worth of raw video. Potentially edited into 3,375 minutes of opportunity to use your product or showcase its benefits and/or how your product/company has helped to make this project possible. Not to mention featuring your product/company on our support vehicle in conjunction with raising mental health awareness . Furthermore, our feature length documentary giving credit to your company by name as well as featuring it throughout. Finally, the feel-good benefit of association in partnering with a group dedicated to making a difference in the world and ushering in change within the mental health landscape. Remember our goal is to start a movement. We’ve often referred to the Restoration Ride as restoring color to a life of monotony. Be the company that supports living in color. Donate now.
